SCCM Installation and Management

SCCM Installation and Management

The primary objective of the SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) Installation and Management project was to address issues arising from corrupted SCCM infrastructures and configurations. The project involved rebuilding the SCCM infrastructure, implementing specialized image management for Dell and Lenovo products, and enhancing the deployment process through custom PowerShell scripts, including BIOS password configuration.

1.    Assessment and Planning:
•    Conducted a thorough assessment of the existing SCCM infrastructure to identify corruption and configuration issues.
•    Developed a comprehensive plan for rebuilding the SCCM infrastructure with a focus on stability, performance, and enhanced functionality.

2.    Infrastructure Rebuilding:
•    Rebuilt the SCCM infrastructure, including servers, site roles, and database configurations, to ensure a clean and reliable environment.
•    Implemented best practices for SCCM architecture to address the issues of corruption in the previous setup.

3.    Special Image Work for Dell and Lenovo Products:
•    Customized and created specialized images for Dell and Lenovo products to meet the specific requirements of the organization.
•    Integrated PowerShell scripts into the images to automate the installation of necessary drivers and configurations based on the computer manufacturer.

4.    Task Sequence Automation with PowerShell:
•    Developed custom PowerShell scripts for task sequences to dynamically identify the computer manufacturer and run specific scripts and drivers accordingly.
•    Automated the deployment process, ensuring that tasks such as application installations and configurations were tailored to the hardware being deployed.

5.    BIOS Password Configuration:
•    Integrated a secure process into the task sequence to set BIOS passwords for computers during deployment.
•    Developed PowerShell scripts to set BIOS passwords and securely store them in the database.

6.    Testing and Validation:
•    Conducted thorough testing to validate the effectiveness of the rebuilt SCCM infrastructure and the accuracy of the task sequences.
•    Verified the proper functioning of PowerShell scripts in the task sequences and the secure storage of BIOS passwords.

7.    Documentation and Training:
•    Created detailed documentation outlining the new SCCM infrastructure, task sequences, and image management processes.
•    Provided training sessions for IT staff on the updated SCCM environment and the use of PowerShell scripts for enhanced automation.

8.    Challenges and Solutions:
•    Addressed corruption issues in the SCCM infrastructure through a meticulous rebuild, incorporating enhanced security measures and automation.
•    Developed error-handling mechanisms within PowerShell scripts to ensure robustness during deployment.

The SCCM Installation and Management project successfully overcame challenges associated with corrupted infrastructures, delivering a reliable and efficient deployment environment. The customized image management for specific hardware vendors, combined with PowerShell automation, significantly streamlined the deployment process. The integration of BIOS password configuration added an extra layer of security to the organization's systems. Ongoing support and monitoring mechanisms were established to maintain the integrity and performance of the SCCM infrastructure.
